ENCODE (Encyclopedia of DNA Elements) is a genome research consortium. The primary aim of ENCODE is to identify the functional elements present in the eukaryotic genome. In this study, the plan is to concentrate on integrative level, which includes a registry of cis-regulatory elements. ENCODE expands the catalog of regulatory elements in human and mouse genomes through biological samples, including diseased tissue samples. Every tissue present in the organism has its enhancers and suppressors. ENCODE aids to identify different enhancers and suppressors which leads to further study on how they influence the action of each other in a diseased state or a mutation and to the development of simple and innovative diagnostic and treatment strategies.
